Beginning Lace
I was always interested in the making of different kinds of lace so when the chance to make it came up I jumped at it. I could of made it before but I never had a good reason to. Though I was slightly lonely during this project ,due to the fact that that no one else shared this fascination, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. When I looked online to see how I could make this lace this is what I found:
Needless to say I was very scared that I picked the wrong project, that I couldn't do it. After searching you tube a little bit more I found this:
This was the easiest one I could find and I was excited to try it! Then a problem came up..... The materials. I was not prepared to buy any of the following:
Bobbins
a pillow for the bobbins
anything else (I'm cheap)
So I was forced to act like Mcgyver and use what I had. (If you want to try to make any bobbin lace , and are cheap like me, you should listen!) So instead of bobbins I used sharpies(I'm sure any pen would work as long as it has a cap and clip on the side) and instead of a hard pillow with a turning thing-ey I used a pice of poster board wrapped in a kind of foam. Here is a picture of my makeshift supplies:

This includes string, pins, scissors, loaded sharpies, and my "bobbin pillow" . First I drew the pattern out (every dot is where you end up putting a pin) and placed the four pins (see above) in.
Next I placed my "bobbins" on each of the pins:

Then I simply followed the tutorial of the cloth stitch above. Here is a picture:
This is what I ended with:
It only hit me after I made it that it makes cloth. SURPRISE! The cloth stitch makes cloth! And I decided I wasn't that happy with it:
Back to youtube I went! And found this:

After my wonderful progress I found that there were no more videos. Now I was lost and when I am lost I guess. This is what happened:
Yeah It worked! I ended with this:
This was an ending product I could live with!
